厺 1. An ancient term meaning "to leave" or "to go away". (This character is a combination of ideographic and phonetic elements. In oracle bone script, it is depicted with "大" (big) representing a person on top and "口" (or sometimes "凵") below, which signifies a person leaving a cave entrance or a pit.
